How do I use voice commands offline/without a data connection?

If your device runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or later, you can download a language pack for offline voice recognition.  On most devices, follow these steps:

1. Open the Google Search app

3. Select Voice, then “Offline speech recognition”

How can I use voice commands 100% hands-free / without swiping?

If your phone supports Google voice commands, you can say things like "Ok Google, Play X" or "Ok Google, Listen to X". By default, your phone may only listen for these commands from the home screen, but you can turn on “Ok Google” detection from any screen with the following steps:

1. Open the Google Search app

3. Select Voice, then “Ok Google” detection

4. Turn on the “From any screen” setting

Since you might have multiple music apps, the “Ok Google” commands might open another app. To let Car Tunes handle those commands, click on the music app icon that appears momentarily after your voice command. Then you should see a list of all your music apps with Car Tunes as an option.

If it does not keep your selection, you'll need to disable “Play Music” from your Google search settings.

Here is one way to do this:

1. Open the Google Search app
